New Year

Party or no, it's time for celebration. Even if it's only for getting through another year! I've spent plenty of New Year's Eve's asleep on the couch. One, stranded in a hotel with my sister playing card games, and a fair number dancing. I've gone to parties with dear friends, and given a few myself. There was only once that I possibly celebrated to excess, . . .  but I really can't remember. (just kidding)

But I always feel that I'm teetering on a nameless threshold the final evening of the year, and that the infant moments of the new year need attending to after a long expected arrival. A simple welcome is enough, and seems important to be spent in the company of loved ones (awake or not).

We'll be making a toast this weekend at the final stop of our December Tour in which we visited our entire family for the holidays, coast to coast. Seven cities in thirty days. It has been a deeply satisfying way to finish up 2011.

I plan to be all sentimental about it. Looking back over my shoulder while I move through the door to tomorrow. But, whatever else is that moment for?

I wish you many happy days ahead, my friends!
And a very Happy New Year!

The Year in Pink

I'm ending the year with the happiest of colors! It's been good therapy focusing on pink at least once in the week this year. If not a passion, pink is certainly one of my pleasures. One I wouldn't want to live without.

I don't decorate with pink much. It's more of a special occasion color for me. But naturally, it always reminds me of my grand-daughters, a whole dozen of them, like a beautiful bouquet of roses. (Aged two, to twenty.)

And it's the perfect color for celebrations.
I hope you enjoy this look back at a year of Cabin & Cottage
PINK. . . .

Thank you so much for your visits this past year whether you comment or not. And a special thanks to those of you who do. I appreciate the feedback. My blog is for you as much as for me. I spent a lot of time looking in on blogs without comment long before I took the plunge to participate myself, and it's been one of the funnest things I've ever done. I'm always thinking about what YOU might like to see when I do a post. I've enjoyed your friendship and e-quaintance very much, and truly wish you all the best in the New Year!
