Lazy Daisies and French Knots

One of my favorites to find at flea markets are bouquets of linens. Vintage cottons, and hand worked embroidery make my day.

A bit of exquisite crochet work, or a tatted edge is like diamonds to me.

It's always a pleasure to give old things a soak and a pressing and bring them back to life.

What better way to spend a summer day?

This old cotton apron is every bit as soft as it looks. Sweet for a little girl, or simply hung in a breezy window.

Wishing you sweet fresh bouquets of Summer days!
Ciao! for now!

Jacqueline

  2. I love hanging my linens on the line outside... but I must say, I've never been much for the ironing part.
You make it sound like such a wonderful gift to be able to iron. Hmmm... makes me wonder.

I guess soaking and ironing and tending to the lace is a hobby of yours, huh?

We all have something I guess.

Your pictures of your linens are beautiful

  10. Hi Jacqueline,

These linens are just wonderful! I remember doing embroidery with french knots when I was a young girl, but I never did anything this lovely. You found some real treasures. I especially like the pillowcase with the lavender embroidery and trim, and the tablecloth with the french knots.

I haven't been commenting on your posts lately because I have to sign out of my Google account, and then sign back in again. I wish Google would get that little glitch fixed. I still enjoy reading your posts and looking at your inspiring vignettes.

  14. Jacqueline,
I am fortunate to have some my grandmother's linens. When I get back to Florida I need to give them some loving care.

  15. Oh, how beautiful!! I love old linens! Beautiful needlework is definitely becoming a lost art and it is wonderful to get a glimpse into the past to see the time and care with which things were made. Thanks for sharing! Your photography is amazing as well!! :)

  16. Gosh, they are exquisite! Don't you wish they could tell us their history!! Your photographs are so lovely. When I wash and iron linens, I love the smell--reminds me of my childhood when my mom would do the wash and iron all day (not something that I do very often :) Thanks for visiting with me!
